Pre-entry Requirements

  1. Hold a current Aeroplane Licence, either PPL or CPL.
  2. Have met the Theoretical Knowledge requirements.
  3. Have met the Night qualification requirements.
  4. Hold a current Medical Certificate – Class 1 for CPL., Class 1 or 2 for PPL.
  5. Hold the relevant Rating i.e. either SEPL or MEPL, that the Course is to be taken on. In the case of MEPL. all training for that Rating must be completed, the test however need not have been taken.

(Note – Before commencing flight training the student must have a Course Completion Certificate issued by an approved Theoretical Training Organisation or a CAA pass certificate)

Training Syllabus

  1. 50 hours instrument time of which a maximum of 15 hours is in the aircraft and a maximum of 35 hours is in the FNPT2 simulator.
  2. If the CPL requirements are not met, then a further 5 hours instrument training is required.
  3. The holder of a SE IR (A) who holds a ME rating wishing to obtain a ME IR (A) will complete a course of at least 5 hours instruction in instrument flying on a ME aeroplane.
  4. The holder of an ICAO recognised IR needs only to complete 15 hours normally as 10 hours simulator and 5 hours aircraft.

Note: the amount of simulator time can be varied as can the aircraft time and this will affect the overall course cost.

Flight Test Requirement

Pass an IR Skill test with CAA Examiner..

5 weeks dependent upon weather.
