Introduction

The Structured Hours-Building Course is designed for students to achieve the CAA minimum requirement (150 hours Total Time with 100 hours PIC) in order to commence CPL & IR courses with BCFT. The outline below is tailored for a student with 50 hours flight experience, but the course can be adjusted to meet your individual needs – with a minimum of 50 hours and a maximum of 150 hours to be flown in line with this course. The course is only available to students who are booked to conduct their CPL & IR training with BCFT. The course is only available using the Cessna C172 aircraft.

Through our associated flying schools, we can offer hours building in Malta and Cyprus.

Pre-entry Requirements

  • Current PPL(A), issued in accordance with ICAO Annex 1
  • Current Class 2 Medical (although a Class 1 medical will ultimately be required for a commercial licence)
  • A demonstrated minimum level of theoretical knowledge of the CPL or ATPL examinations (*)

(*) Students wishing to commence the course prior to passing the theoretical knowledge examinations may be allowed to do so after interview, but will not be permitted to commence the CPL modular course until the exams are passed.

Training Syllabus

This syllabus assumes that the candidate has only the minimum hours for PPL issue. For those with more hours than this, the course may well be shorter.

  • 93 hours minimum – Solo flight – C172
  • 4 hours minimum – Dual flight – C172

The C172 aircraft is a fully equipped 4 person aircraft. It has long range tanks, and there is no stipulation on where you can fly in Europe, as long as the airfield is suitable and licenced

Course Duration

Normally 5 weeks full-time (weather dependent)
